“One pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small. And the ones that mother gives you, don’t do anything at all.” (opening lines of “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane). Just as physics teaches us that nature seeks the lowest possible energy state, so are humans wired to search for the “Easy Button”, or in many cases, the easy pill. If you were to list all the things that most people would like to be (healthier, happier, calmer, thinner, smarter….) there is a pill for every one of them (to be a better writer there is Pinot Noir, although finding the correct dosage is tricky). Not to be outdone in the race for better SAT’s and GPA’s, students have discovered what is being referred to as the “Good Grade Pill”. If this doesn’t get you into Caltech, there’s a pill for that too. Remember what the dormouse said….
