A couple of San Francisco scientists announced what may prove to be a breakthrough in cancer research. It turns out that marijuana, which molecular biologists refer to as “cannabis” to improve their odds of getting funded, contains a promising substance called Cannabidiol. CBD, for short, is non-toxic, non-psychoactive, and capable of turning off the genetic switch controlling metastasis in many varieties of cancer. The result is the culmination of 20 years of research on weed (I have a theory on why it took so long). If the upcoming clinical trials are successful, politicians who did inhale can legitimately claim it was part of their overall wellness program. The good news – the District of Columbia is already a medical marijuana state.
