Depending on who you listen to, we are either making slow steady progress at creating jobs in this country, or we are stuck where we were four years ago. One thing is for certain; both parties love to talk about jobs, and both will recklessly sling around words like education, entrepreneurship and innovation. Neither says a lot about immigration, which may have more to do with job creation than anyone would care to admit. Many of the immigrants I know came from homelands where extreme work ethic was the norm; it was required in order to survive. They were surprised to find that here in America, that same work ethic set them apart. You can’t prove that immigrants are more or less innovative than native-born Americans, but you also can’t tell the story of the growth of American prosperity without them. Sadly, neither party wants to talk about that.
